A busy week for Calderdale Dementia Hub!
Calderdale Dementia Hub had a busy week during Dementia Action Week, holding stalls and events across Calderdale to raise awareness of the new dementia service and the importance of an early diagnosis for dementia.
We held information stalls at Morrisons in Elland, Hebden Bridge Town Hall, Memory Lane Café, Young Dementia Hub and on Friday were at The Woolshops in Halifax Town Centre, where we were offering advice and support. We also handed out lots of great freebies including Jelly Drops to boost daily fluid intake for people with dementia, hand knitted twiddle muffs that can help to ease anxiety, plus Age UK tea towels with falls prevention advice.
The team were led by our office mascot a robotic cat (pictured below) who has yet to be named. If you have a suggestion for a suitable name for our mascot please send to lberrett@ageukck.org.uk
We also attended a great event at Young Dementia Leeds – where Diana, the cover star of the Eating Well with Dementia cook book, performed a cooking demonstration for one of her delicious soups! We all got to taste some of her easy to cook meals – tailored to and developed with people living with dementia, their families and carers.
