Calderdale Dementia Hub is a team of six. We work to ensure that people affected by dementia can live well with dementia, providing information, advice and signposting as needed; and supporting a dementia friendly Calderdale.
Our team is led by our Service Manager Neil. The Service Manager is responsible for the overall management of the service and ensuring that we meet our contractual obligations. Neil has worked in both the third sector and statutory services particularly focusing on mental health and carer support. Neil is a Tottenham supporter who loves his live comedy gigs.
We have three Dementia Support Coordinators – Janette, Jo and Rosy. The Dementia Support Coordinator offers advice, information and signposting and a listening ear to people affected by dementia. They assess individual need to help you meet desired outcomes. They are also the first contact for safeguarding concerns. All three are passionate about giving you the information and tools you need to live well with dementia as you define it.
Janette worked in the private sector using her administrative skills before dedicating herself to the family. On returning to the workplace, Janette wanted a change of direction and has worked in the third sector ever since. Janette has cruised around the world, meeting President Carter on the way and is anticipating getting back into Rock Choir – as long as she gets to record at Abbey Road again.
Jo has worked in mental health in the third sector and as an arts facilitator using rhythm to promote health and community cohesion. Jo has a passion for live music and the great outdoors particularly camping in boggy fields in the pouring rain!
Rosy has worked in roles dedicated to hardly reached communities and engagement in public health before moving into dementia. She was in the top cadets in her military training and has particular passions for research, plants and dog-walking (especially towards a coffee shop)
Our Volunteer Coordinator is Dawn. The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains and supports volunteers for Calderdale Dementia Hub. Dawn has previously worked in a number of customer facing roles. Dawn is an active volunteer herself and leads a Rangers group. Dawn is an avid traveller and when she can’t get away she likes to explore the countryside.
Our Community Engagement Officer is Lisa. The Community Engagement Officer provides dementia awareness sessions and activities to support the Hub and Calderdale Dementia Friendly Communities. This role also facilitates the Happy Valley DEEP Group and develops outreach contacts with organisations across Calderdale to support our signposting and referrals. Lisa has worked in private industry and in residential and nursing care as both a carer and activities coordinator. Lisa is a big animal lover and her favourite sound is the sound of her sewing machine being turned on.
